Dividend News for 2013When the budget deal was agreed upon for the beginning of the year, this included evaluate on dividends. Qualified dividends, including capital gains, for individuals in the 25%, 28%, 33%, and 35% income revenue enhancement brackets will continue to be valuateed at 15%. Individuals reservation more(prenominal) than $400,000 in taxable income or couples making more than $450,000 will see their rate rise to 20%. Individuals in the 10% and 15% brackets as before will have a zero tax rate. Charles Farrell, chief executive of Northstar Investment Advisors LLC had stated that these tax rates for this year were pretty consistent. If they had been higher, investors probably would have been favoring non-income producing assets. Although, taxes on dividends will continue to rise for individuals making incomes above $200,000 or families making income above $250,000 due to the new Medicare tax (Ruffenach, 2013). The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 in creased tax rates in 2013 for upper bracket taxpayers by 3.8% (Eyden, 2013). This 3.8% tax applies to net investment returns which covers capital gains, interest, certain annuities, and dividends. So, many families will pay around 18.8% which includes 15% plus 3.8%, plus state taxes. For others who are the high wage earners will pay tax on dividends around 23.8% which includes 20% plus 3.8%. There has been much controversy whether or not dividends and capital gains should receive preferential tax treatment. The rates of taxation on dividends and capital gains have always been progressive, perhaps for the fairness of the overall economy (Eyden, 2013). As an individual investor, it does not matter what dividend tax rates are, because attractive returns preserve be realized. The Lord Of The Rings :: essays research papers

The Lord Of The RingsMy favorite character in this book would have to be Legolas. He was the best elf with a bow and arrow, and his skill with a blade was unmatched. A prince of the Elven Kingdom of Mirkwood, he has keen eyesight and sharp ears, a characteristic of his race. Though the fellowship that set forth from Rivendell has dwindled to but three, still the friendship that binds these three holds strong. Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli hold to each other through hardships and peril, in smart of their differences. As we consider the Lord of the Rings, we need to think of the characters who sort turn out up what was holloed the fellowship. Nine were the number that made up this group, but they were not all what we would call men. Four were called Hobbits, little people that might also to some be called leprechauns. These were folks that lived in open meadows under the roots of trees or perhaps cut into their homes out of the sides of banks alongside the roads. Their homes were no t caves, but were elaborate dwellings that could rival the homes of many of the people who we meet today. The one thing we could truly say about the Hobbits is the concomitant that they loved life and celebrated it to the fullest. One example of this is the birthday celebration of Bilbo Baggins. Even though it was just a birthday party, there was fireworks, dancing, and enough grog to make a Hobbits head spin. There was even a cake that rivaled the size of the largest Hobbit. One other peculiar item I would like to innovate at this time was the fact that they wore no shoes. To me it is no big deal to be barefoot, but later on in the story it could have been a problem, but as they were always this way it posed no problems The second group in this fellowship was the group called men. Aragorn and Borimir were the two that made up this group. Aragorn at first was presented as a ranger. Rangers were those, and they did not have to be men, who protected the world. They were those who pr eferred to spend their lives alone, wandering the earth. It was only later on that we find out that he was the son of a king, a king who had disgraced himself years before, and showed himself to be a loyal friend and protector of the one who bore the ring.

Disagreement with Sigmond Freuds The Future of an Illiusion Essay

To a certain extent I can agree with Freuds views on natural instinct. Without manmade laws and coercion or rules that are p envyed by God, civilization would not survive or even have been born. Yet, as is the case with many other people, I resist with his views on religion. I do not believe that religion was created by man, scarcely by a higher being. It is impossible for me to believe that science ordain destroy religion because for every question science answers many more questions arise. The more science reveals about nature the more apparent it is to me that only a higher being could have created everything. As Freud landed estates I am iodine of the unpersuadable. Civilization is not only made by technological development that also by a set of rules. The rules remove mans foul instincts such as killing, incest, and cannibalism, which are the elements that work to destroy civilization. Without guidelines or laws our actions would be the same as those of wild animals. Freud says that these laws and doctrines were established so that we could unite and band against the our enemy nature. Imposing laws upon people is a necessary element, yet it causes people to resent this coercion away from their natural instincts. After being forced against their will these people begin to hate civilization but at the same meter they continue to love it because it provides them with their necessities to live. Freud calls the people the masses because they are the majority of civilization. He says that they are ignorant and lazy, because of this, it easy for them to lapse back to instinctual behavior and into the chaos of nature. bear on 2Freud says civilization is founded on religion. For example, T... ...Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is a good example of Freuds envisioned civilization. Instead relying on a higher being, the state name 4was to meet all of the peoples needs. When the country failed economically, there were generations o f atheists with no belief system to guide them. This country collapsed because of many reasons but one of them could be the lack of religion. After reading The Future of an Illusion I wondered why Freud was so strongly set against God. Instead of basing his beliefs on faith, he invested himself in the scientific method. Since he could not conduct experiments that led him to the answer, he concluded that it was impossible for a God to exist. Maybe science will one day explain the phenomenona of today, but there will always be unanswered questions. A discovery will only lead to more questions.
